Jim Brothers, Sculptor
Jim Brothers, the American figurative sculptor of Homage, was the principal sculptor for the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia for which he sculpted six monumental bronzes (ten soldiers) and six portrait busts (SHAEF Commanders). He also produced in 2003 the bronze statue of General Dwight D. Eisenhower (shown at the right), a 1994 statue of Mark Twain (shown at the bottom left) for the Hartford Public Library in Hartford, Connecticut, a commemorative work for Griffith Park in Los Angeles and a memorial statue of Omar Bradley for his home town Moberly, MO.

Born in 1941 to a working-class Eureka, Kansas family, Jim Brothers earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma.
When he was attending school and just getting started, he worked other jobs to fund his art projects. He has been a teacher, cowboy, policeman, sewage plant worker, social worker and Volkswagen repairman. While he has been a professional artist for most of his adult life, his art career took off nationally in 1992 when he received a commission from General Electric for a series of bronzes entitled Flight.

Considered one of the best military sculptors in the country, Jim Brothers has received enthusiastic praise from World War II veterans for the realistic depiction and attention to period detail in his statuary.
