Wine Street Memorial Park

Located at the corner of Wine Street and Old Brandy Road in historic Culpeper, Virginia, the Wine Street Memorial Park is a neighborhood park designed as a memorial to veterans of World War II and the Korean War. The park, which was dedicated in April, 2008, contains a concrete memorial pad containing brick pavers surrounded by memorial benches, picnic tables, interpretive markers and a playground for children. In an effort to offset the development costs of this project, the Town of Culpeper instituted the Wine Street Memorial Donation Program to give individuals and groups the opportunity to memorialize veterans from these wars. Residents and friends have the opportunity to donate trees, picnic tables, benches and pavers in three sizes. These commemorative gifts do not go toward paying for the monument. Those individuals and groups wishing to contribute to the park can use the Town's Memorial Donation Program brochure.

The Town of Culpeper created The Veterans Recognition Committee in the spring of 2008 to raise awareness and funds for a monument to be placed in the the center of the memorial concrete pad site. Consult the graphic plan at left. Money is needed to cast the statue and carve the base on which the statue will rest.
